No More Prive’!

by Sir Heath Burkhalter

Well its official. According to Las Vegas Mega Columnist Norm Clark, Prive’ Nightclub has been denied its liquor license and is ordered to be completely shut down by July 30th! <http://www.lvrj.com/news/51562577.html> Poetry Nightclub is also listed as possibly on the chopping block. It does make one sad to see good people hurt over stupidity and venues we all like to disappear, but a death in one place usually means new life in another. I can tell you that there is some really great staff in those clubs and I will hope for the best for them. What I really don’t like is all the organizations that are springing up to take advantage of a bad situation, from private security companies with no Las Vegas nightclub experience trying to teach nightclubs how they should operations (SCAN…I’m talking to you) to religious groups screaming out “the Word” on the streets and bothering tourists. I mean come on. I’m a Christian, but this is Las Vegas. If you don’t like the city and the ideals upon which it was founded…go somewhere else that suits your beliefs. This is not a family value based town; with a name like Sin City and slogans like “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”

I just don’t believe we should allow our city to be turned into something other than what it was meant to be—a playground for adults!
